BLOCKREIGN

Build your block. Feed your people. Take the neighborhood.

Loading the streets…

Block Reign is a free real-time strategy game set in a fictional Los Angeles neighborhood. Build your block, feed your people, recruit a crew, and take the hood from a rival crew — a Standard match runs 8 to 12 minutes.

Plays in your browser. No download, no account, no purchase. About Block Reign and how to play

A work of fiction. Rival neighborhoods compete for territory, respect, and revenue.

What is Block Reign?

Block Reign is a free 3D strategy game that runs in your web browser. You start with one corner of a nine-block Los Angeles neighborhood and a rival crew starts at the other end. Build businesses and housing, keep your residents fed, recruit a crew, and take blocks until the neighborhood is yours. There is no download and nothing to install.

It is a casual real-time strategy and neighborhood simulation. A Standard match runs about 8 to 12 minutes, so decisions matter without demanding constant unit micromanagement. Every match generates a new map, and your controlled blocks visibly change as you advance through four eras: The Corner, The Block, The Hood, and The City.

How to play

  • Build. Click an empty lot on your turf to build. Click a building to upgrade or demolish it.
  • Feed your people. Cash and food resolve four times per day. Businesses earn cash, residents eat food, and understaffed businesses earn less.
  • Recruit a crew. Every Spot is a local recruiting center. Train Runners, Muscle, and OGs, and train at several Spots in parallel.
  • Send the right lineup. Runner beats OG, OG beats Muscle, Muscle beats Runner. Pick your squad before you commit to a target.
  • Hold what you own. Station defenders on buildings you control, and build a Guard Tower from Era II to punish small raids.
  • Invest in the neighborhood. Parks, schools, and restaurants raise morale and support, and supported buildings produce and defend better.
  • Take the neighborhood. Control 70 percent of all standing buildings to win the match, or 60 percent in Quick Match.

Controls: drag to pan, click or tap to focus and zoom, Ctrl and drag to orbit, scroll or pinch to zoom, Space to pause, 1 / 2 / 3 for speed, C for quick recruit, W for the Neighborhood Wire, M to mute, Esc to close panels.

Frequently asked questions

Is Block Reign free to play?

Yes. Block Reign is free and runs in your web browser. There is nothing to buy, no account to create, and no download or install step.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Block Reign loads in any modern desktop or mobile browser that supports WebGL. Open the page and press Enter The Hood.

How long is a match?

A Standard match, the default mode, targets 8 to 12 minutes. Quick Match targets 4 to 6 minutes by compressing the opening and lowering the share of buildings you need to win. You can pause at any time and change game speed with the 1, 2 and 3 keys.

How do you win a match?

You win by controlling 70 percent of all standing buildings in the neighborhood, or 60 percent in Quick Match. Eliminating the rival crew does not end the match on its own, because they keep rebuilding, recruiting and raiding until you hold the neighborhood.

What are the units in Block Reign?

There are three units in a counter triangle: the Runner beats the OG, the OG beats Muscle, and Muscle beats the Runner, each for 60 percent extra damage. Runners are fast scouts that capture twice as quickly, Muscle holds the line, and OGs deal ranged damage but are fragile alone. Each unlocks in a later era.

Is Block Reign multiplayer?

No. Block Reign is single-player: the rival crew is run by the game's AI, which builds, recruits, expands, and raids on its own. You can share a match though — every match ends with a shareable Block Report card and a challenge link that loads the exact same neighborhood map for whoever you send it to, so you can compare runs on identical ground.

Does Block Reign use real gangs or real neighborhoods?

No. Block Reign is a work of fiction. The crews, territories and events are invented, and the game deliberately avoids real gang names, signs and colors. Map shapes are generated from anonymous public census tract geometry with all source identifiers and labels removed.
